Why not Paste?
Paste is a comprehensive clipboard manager.
If you like cloud sync, beautiful UI, and don't mind subscriptions, it might be good enough.
But for us, it's not quite right:
- Clipboard content relies on cloud sync by default
- Subscription model means you are constantly paying for a 'basic productivity tool'
- Heavy operation path for mass copying, searching, and repeated calls
- More like a 'design-driven' product, not an 'efficiency engine'
CopyManager chooses differently:
It insists on local-first, all data exists only on your own machine,
fast startup, fast calls, no sync anxiety, and no long-term subscription burden.
Why not CopyQ?
CopyQ is very powerful.
If you are willing to spend time configuring scripts, rules, and tag systems, it can do almost anything.
But this power comes with a cost:
- Steep learning curve
- UI is too utilitarian, not friendly for high-frequency use
- Many features you might 'know exist', but rarely use
CopyManager does not pursue feature stacking.
We care more about:
- Can you find that piece of content in 1 second?
- Are high-frequency operations smooth enough?
- Is long-term use 'senseless but indispensable'?
So CopyManager only keeps the capabilities that are truly used every day, and does them to the extreme.
Our approach
CopyManager is not about 'replacing everything'.
It just tries to be a tool that you use every day but almost feel doesn't exist.
